BERLIN (Germany)- German chancellor Angela Merkel expressed, Tuesday, support to the process of political reforms in Algeria engaged by the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
“We support the political reforms engaged in Algeria by the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, notably the draft revision of the Constitution,” said Merkel in a press conference held jointly with Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, who is on a one-day visit to Berlin, at the invitation of German chancellor.
Sellal previously held a meeting in Berlin with the President of the Bundestag (Lower House of German Parliament), Norbert Lammert, who also welcomed the draft revision of the Constitution in Algeria, approved Monday by the Council of Ministers, underlining “Germany’s intense interest in cooperation with Algeria.”
In addition, he called for “a multidimensional partnership,” and underlined “a shared will and the capacity of both countries (Algeria and Germany) in developing bilateral cooperation.”
