AU Executive Council: Lamamra in Addis Ababa on Wednesday
ALGIERS- Minister of State, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra will lead the Algerian delegation to the 28th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), said Saturday a statement from the ministry.
This meeting will prepare for the 26th Ordinary Session of the AU Summit, placed this year under the theme ” 2016 African Year of Human Rights, with Particular Focus on the Rights of Women.”
The Minister of State will also take part, from Sunday until Tuesday, in the Executive Council meeting which will be devoted to “the implementation of Agenda 2063 through the examination of different priority actions identified by the heads of State, in terms of development, strengthening African capacity and rationalization of the AU working methods, “the source added.
Algeria is a member of the AU Ministerial Committee in charge of monitoring the implementation of Agenda 2063.
Lamamra will also preside over the session devoted “to the different players’ capacities to implement the Agenda by at national, regional and continental levels.”
The meeting will also focus on “streamlining and strengthening the structures of the AU Commission,” the ministry concluded.
