Algeria, Kazakhstan ink MoU on political consultations

ALGIERS- Algeria and Kazakhstan have agreed on Thursday in Algiers to set up, very shortly, a cooperation commission with a view to boosting relations between the two countries.In a statement to the press following his discussions with Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Askar Mussinov said that the two countries “have agreed to set up very shortly a cooperation commission, which will help enhance cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
Mussinov also underlined the convergence of views between Kazakhstan and Algeria on many issues, emphasizing the importance of the signing of agreements to encourage investment in the two countries.
The Kazakh Deputy Foreign minister hailed Algeria’s constant support to the initiatives of his country, particularly its candidacy for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council and for the organization of the international exhibition EXPO-2017, to be held in Astana in under the theme “Future Energy.”
Mussinov said to be pleased that Algeria, which is among countries seeking to find renewable and alternative energy sources, is willing to participate in the exhibition.
The Deputy Foreign minister also hailed Algeria’s support to Kazakhstan’s initiative for the creation of an Islamic food support organization under the aegis of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
As regards the Western Sahara conflict, Mussinov said that his country and Algeria “share the same vision supporting a peaceful and negotiated solution in accordance with the United Nations ‘ principles and resolutions.”
