ALGIERS- Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra will lead the Algerian delegation that will take part in the works of the 31st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, which will start Monday in Geneva, said Sunday a ministerial communiqué.
Lamamra will make, on this occasion, a speech as part of the high-level segment.
On the sidelines of this session, he will hold discussions with a number of his counterparts, as well as with some senior officials of UN specialized agencies and other international organizations based in Geneva.
Algeria, which sits as a member in the human rights Council for the period 2014-2016, is among the first countries which have been the subject of “universal periodic review,” said the ministry.
“In the spirit of cooperation which has always been marked by relations with the Human Rights Council, an invitation was extended, in March 2010, to seven holders of thematic mandates to pay working visits to Algeria, as part of the Council’s special procedures,” said the source.
